This week, the monotony of mowing the lawn was interrupted by an enjoyable little surprise. A few delicate little flowers sprouted up amid the grass. Please comment if you can identify this flower.

Looks like a pink variety of Oxalis sp. from what I can tell of the flower. Is it a tiny little flower, less than 1” long? And the leaves, what do those look like? Three triangular leaves that meet at their points at the center? Folds up tight at night?
Oxalis is pretty commonly sold in stores around St. Patrick’s Day as a “Shamrock” (perhaps one should say SHAM-rock lol! It’s not really a shamrock at all). The one sold in stores has a white flower, and dark green leaves – there is also a deep purple variety that is commonly sold at that time as well. Anyway, I have to admit I’ve never seen one growing wild before! Nor one with that lovely pink flower. Nice find there!
It doesn’t appear that you’re ”home” these days, but I just read an article you might be interested in – on Nat Geo – debunking the ”intelligent design” theory – enjoy!

mmmm . . . p.s. Oxalis is also known as ”Wood Sorrel”, and sometimes those leaves are more heart-shaped triangles than straight-edged ones.
